Basiria diversicauda sp. nov. from rice soil in Nigeria is described and illustrated. It has 0.8-0.85 mm long body, 12-14 (13) micro m long stylet, orifice of dorsal oesophageal gland 10-11 micro m behind base of stylet, median bulb at 35-39 percent of oesophageal length, V at 69.6-72.8 (71-2) percent of body length, tail about 8 times anal body width long with a rounded terminus, vulva-anus distance greater than tail length and spicules 20-21 (20.5) micro m long.
