The use and relative efficacy of bed nets impregnated with pyrethroids as a method of vector control in the prevention of malaria in China are discussed under a number of headings. These include: the use of untreated and treated nets; operational management of bed net treatment; bed nets impregnated with deltamethrin or permethrin; efficacy of treated bed nets against Anopheles sinensis, A. anthropophagus and A. dirus; the safety and cost-effectiveness of pyrethroid-treated bed nets.
