This issue of the Yearbook of the UK Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) contains 14 chapters covering the following topics: strategy for the British beef industry, market review of the European Communities and UK beef situations, the MLC's beef breeding services, MLC Beefplan results for suckler herds and finishing systems, beef cattle at grass, carcass classification by the MLC, beef marketing and its promotion by the MLC, results from the MLCs Common Agricultural Policy check service, beef eating quality ("pre-farm-gate" factors), beef exports from UK, an introduction to the European veal industry, and a cattle identification update. There are 2 appendices, one summarizing the MLC method of beef carcass classification and the other listing special topics covered in previous yearbooks.
