, : Beekeeping in Zaire. Optimal improvement of beekeeping in Bushi. Bulletin Technique Apicole 21(1): 11-18

Bushi is a region in eastern Zaire, with a tropical climate and savanna vegetation. Many of the crops grown are good sources of bee forage (Camellia sinensis, Cichonia ledgeriana, Coffea sp., Manihot esculenta, Ipomoea batatas, Zea mays, Sorghum vulgare, Musa sp., Eucalyptus sp., Persea americana). Traditional beekeeping methods using long, cylindrical hives made of straw, hollowed trunks or bark, are described. Honey is used as a sweetener and in traditional medicine.
