Behavior of period-altered circadian rhythm mutants of Drosophila in light:dark cycles (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

The locomotor activity of adults of Drosophila melanogaster was monitored under LD 12:12. The elementary behaviour of wild-type flies under these conditions fluctuated between high and low levels of activity. Two high-activity peaks occurred within a given cycle: one at about dawn and the other at around dusk.
