Behaviour and weight change of red deer calves during different weaning procedures

, : Behaviour and weight change of red deer calves during different weaning procedures. Applied Animal Behaviour Science 35(1): 23-33

In a preliminary pilot trial, 60 calves were not weaned, or weaned and then confined to a paddock or indoors for 7 days, with or without the presence of 2 hand-reared hinds during confinement. Activities observed over 5 days, starting on the day after weaning, differed among groups.
