Behaviour of microorganisms in soils: state of knowledge and technical developments

Comptes Rendus de l' Academie d' Agriculture de France 79(6): 65-68

This paper identifies methods for controlling the growth and spread of microorganisms in soil and water. Partial sterilization by the passage of liquid waste through soil has indicated that the drainage waters may be of sufficient quality for them to be discharged into rivers. An appropriate strategy for controlling the spread of disease causing microorganisms in groundwater and soil is identified as comprising a combination of, as opposed to single, methods.
