Behaviour of polysaccharides in liquor purification

The 3 liquor purification technologies practised at Cuban sugar refineries are: traditional phosphatation + activated carbon powder, at Camilo Cienfuegos (animal carbon), Abraham Lincoln and Jose Marti (both vegetal carbon); triple carbonatation + granular vegetal carbon, at Manuel Martinez Prieto; double carbonatation + strongly basic resin in the Cl--form, at Julio Antonio Mella. The behaviour of polysaccharides in the 3 schemes was compared in laboratory and refinery studies.
