Benzoic, phenylacetic, 3-phenylpropionic and cinnamic acids as well as benzoyl glucoses in some fruits and vegetables

Benzoic, phenylacetic, 3-phenylpropionic and cinnamic acids as well as benzoyl glucoses in some fruits and vegetables

Deutsche Lebensmittel Rundschau 86(7): 205-209

ISSN/ISBN: 0012-0413

Analyses are presented for a range of temperate, subtropical and tropical fruits, nuts and vegetables and for certain field crops including rice, maize, barley, groundnuts and soyabeans. Only trace amounts (<1 mg/kg) of benzoic acid, if any, were found in most produce, with the marked exceptions of red whortleberries (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) and cranberries (73-124 mg/kg).
