Changes in the ultrastructure of tobacco mesophyll cells induced by various polyanions

Injecting yeast RNA and mannan sulfate into intercellular spaces of tobacco Immune and Datura stramonium leaves induced local resistance to tobacco mosaic virus and chlorosis in treated tissues. Polyanions in physiologically active concentrations induced chloroplast disorganization, rupture and vesiculation of membranes and more intense plastoglobule accumulation in mesophyll of treated leaves.
