Comparative study of different immunoserological techniques for the detection of antibodies against transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) coronavirus

Before carrying out a serological survey to determine the prevalence of TGE virus infection in a high-density pig-breeding area (the Murcia region of Spain) the following 5 tests were compared: in vitro neutralization, and indirect ELISA with concentrated virus, an indirect ELISA with purified virus, and immunocapture ELISA with cell culture supernatants, and an indirect virus enzyme linked immunoassay (VELCIA) on infected cell monolayers.
