Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of crucian carp (Carassius auratus gibelio), gengoroubuna (C. a. cuvieri) and goldfish (C. a. auratus) was digested by 13 restriction endonucleases. The sizes of the fragments were estimated by agarose gel electrophoresis. For the 3 subspecies, the size of mtDNA was estimated to be 15 990+or-90, 16 600+or-130 and 15 540+or-140 bp resp.
