Komadan, a local type from the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, India, was compared with West Coast Tall (WCT) by estimating the mean and variance for mother palm, seednut and seedling traits. Of 7 mother palm traits, Komadan palms were superior in all except difference in nut yield between peak and lean harvests. There was no difference between the 2 types in seednut traits.
