Comparing concepts of agricultural extension: experience with the 'Training and Visit system' in Pakistan

Agricultural extension systems in developing countries have often failed to live up to expectation. Consequently, the 'Training & Visit' system has been developed in a number of countries, including Pakistan, with the help of the World Bank. The article first subjects the T&V concept to a general assessment based on a comparison between the traditional approach to advisory services and that provided by the new system in northern Pakistan.
