Comparison of 64 Iranian and foreign alfalfa land races and cultivars for their agronomic and qualitative characteristics

Comparison of 64 Iranian and foreign alfalfa land races and cultivars for their agronomic and qualitative characteristics

Iranian Journal of Agricultural Sciences 23(1): 15-23

Six characters were evaluated in 64 lucerne (Medicago sativa) accessions following several cuts over 7 years. Comparative analysis of results from all landraces and cultivars showed significant genotypic variation for all characters. Introduced cultivars were superior to Iranian cultivars for fresh matter yield and plant height, while the latter were earlier for flowering.
