Contribution to the knowledge of Apis mellifera L. foraging activity on the Campania flora. II. Leguminosae-Convolvulaceae

Contribution to the knowledge of Apis mellifera L. foraging activity on the Campania flora. II. Leguminosae-Convolvulaceae

Apicoltura 1993; ( 8): 55-79

A table presents the results of observations over several years in this area of Italy. It lists 119 species in 29 families, with flowering period, ratings for abundance and foraging intensity of A. mellifera, and what the bees collect (nectar and/or pollen), also shape of pollen grains. The list includes 46 species belonging to the Leguminosae; the fodder crop Hedysarum coronarium is useful bee forage in the spring. Citrus flowers also provide good forage early in the year.
