Detection of antibodies against infectious Borna disease virus - a comparison of three serological methods

Positive indirect immunofluorescence antibody (IFA) tests were given by serum samples from 123 of 273 rabbits experimentally infected with a rabbit-adapted Borna disease virus. These 123 were also positive in a cell-ELISA, the other 150 being negative. Only 27 of the 123 gave positive neutralization tests, with titres of 11 to 213. The IFA test and cell-ELISA titres in these 27 were 640 to 163 840.
