A method of HPLC is described which permits simultaneous quantification of the main sugars present in sugarcane juice; its accuracy was confirmed using standard mixtures containing 1.8-6.0% sucrose, 0.2-2.4% glucose and 0.2-2.4% fructose. During analysis of juices from deteriorated sugarcane, considerable deviation was observed between the results from this method and values obtained by conventional methods.
