Differences among quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) lines selected for body weight in mRNA expressions of m-calpain and actin genes in skeletal muscle

Differences among quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) lines selected for body weight in mRNA expressions of m-calpain and actin genes in skeletal muscle

Animal Science and Technology 64(12): 1137-1140

15 from 2 lines selected for high (line LL) or low (SS) body weight and from a randombred (RR) line were slaughtered at 23 days of age. The concentrations of mRNA for the m-calpain and actin genes in skeletal muscle increased with increasing body weight and were significantly lower in birds of the SS line than in those of the other 2 lines (P<0.01).
