Journal of Research Assam Agricultural University 9(1/2): 60-62

Dispharynx buccalis sp. nov. (23 males and 17 females), is described and figured from the sublingual mucosa of Acridotheres tristis tristis from Gauhati, Assam, India. The new species closely resembles its congener D. alata in having bicuspid, as opposed to tricuspid, postcervical papillae and in having recurrent portions of the cordons about one sixth of the total length, as opposed to more than half the total length in D. alata.
