Eco-tourism: the planning issues

Eco-tourism: the planning issues

Caribbean Finance and Management 7(1/2): 1-18

This paper advocates the need for a comprehensive approach to ecotourism development and management. Traditional Caribbean tourism is concentrated on the beaches, and haphazard development has degraded the coastal zones. Ecotourism promotes travel to historic sites and areas of natural beauty wherever they may be, but without forward strategic planning these fragile resources will also become degraded.
