Ecoepidemiological characterization of gastrointestinal helminths from bovines from four different localities in Venezuela

Ecoepidemiological characterization of gastrointestinal helminths from bovines from four different localities in Venezuela

Revista de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias 35(1-4): 77-91

An overdispersion of helminth species was detected after studying 150 gastrointestinal tracts of bovines from 4 different localities in Venezuela. Oesophagostomum radiatum, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Strongyloides papillosus and Trichuris sp. showed a high aggregation. 10 worm species were found in 3 localities (A, C, D) and 12 were found in the 4th one (B). The Shannon-Weaver index was 1.69 bits for parasite communities found in bovines from B and D, 1.16 bits for A and 1.58 bits for C.
