Ecogenetical background of quantitative traits

Ecogenetical background of quantitative traits

Biometrics in plant breeding: Proceedings of the eighth meeting of the Eucarpia section Biometrics on plant breeding, July 1-6, 1991, Brno, Czechoslovakia: 433-437

A new ecogenetic model for the organization of quantitative traits is described that can be used to explain and predict the behaviour of genetical parameters in populations under different limiting factors. The model shows that the nature of genotype-environment interaction is the redetermination of a spectrum of genes for a quantitative trait, and that it is impossible to have a stable "passport" reflecting the genetical structure of such a trait for any environment.
