Ecological and historical factors affecting the distribution of water-mites (Hydracnellae, Acari) in pyrenean springs

Ecological and historical factors affecting the distribution of water-mites (Hydracnellae, Acari) in pyrenean springs

Archiv fur Hydrobiologie 125(2): 227-244

The presence, distribution and ecology of populations of water mites were studied together with physicochemical variables in 149 springs in the Central Pyrenees, Spain, during 1987-88. 4 different spring types were identified. The 1st group consists of calcium bicarbonate permanent springs, located on middle and low mountains, with cold, fast and well oxygenated waters.
