Ecological aspects of Cephalcia arvensis outbreaks in spruce stands in the Venetian pre-Alps

Ecological aspects of Cephalcia arvensis outbreaks in spruce stands in the Venetian pre-Alps

Annali Accademia Italiana di Scienze Forestali 40: 109-120

Although not new to either area, during the late 1980s populations of Cephalcia arvensis were responsible for widespread defoliation of Norway spruce trees in the Cansiglio Forest and the Asiago Plateau in NE Italy. Trees severely damaged by the defoliation were later attacked by bark and ambrosia beetles (e.g. Dendroctonus micans).
