Ecological aspects of assimilate outflow. I. Temperature

Ecological aspects of assimilate outflow. I. Temperature

Soviet Plant Physiology 39(6, I): 705-712

Ultrastructural study of phloem terminal complexes has shown that assimilate outflow from the leaf occurs through the unified endoplasmic network via plasmodesmata and/or by means of pinocytotic transport through the apoplast from one endoplasmic network to another. Both structural channels were dynamic; they readily filled with assimilates and contracted as the assimilate level declined.
