Ecological aspects of the productive process in winter wheat

Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Res iki Kazakhstan Seriya Biologicheskaya ( 6): 27-33

A comparative study of 19 winter wheat cultivars and hybrids was carried out at Alma-Ata in the foothill region of Kazakhstan and in the Issyk-Kul' basin in the middle of the mountains. The foothill region is characterized by a moderately dry climate with maximum summer temperatures of 40 degrees C and average annual rainfall of 414 mm; water deficit in summer accelerates grain ripening.
