Ecological characterization of carabid species (Coleoptera, Carabidae) in the Netherlands from thirty years of pitfall sampling

Ecological characterization of carabid species (Coleoptera, Carabidae) in the Netherlands from thirty years of pitfall sampling

Tijdschrift voor Entomologie, 1342: 279-304

An ecological characterization of 285 species of carabids from the whole of the Netherlands is presented, from pitfall sampling over a period of 30 years. Information on habitats (types of vegetation, soil and humidity) was recorded for each of 862 sampling localities. Two Way Indicator Species Analysis (TWINSPAN) and Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DECORANA) were used to classify the species into habitat groups. Seven principal habitat groups were recognized.
