Ecological dynamics of proteocephalid infections in Wallago attu at Allahabad

Ecological dynamics of proteocephalid infections in Wallago attu at Allahabad

Journal of Parasitology and Applied Animal Biology 1(1): 63-70

Between August 1982 and July 1983, 540 Wallago attu collected in the River Ganges, India, were examined to determine seasonal variations in parasite burdens. The prevalence of Gangesia sanehensis peaked in October, in the post-spawning phase of W. attu, but G. hanumanthai peaked in August and March. Both the level of intensity and prevalence were higher in females than in males.
