Acta Agronomica Sinica 19(5): 402-411

In trials on rainfed upland and lowland sites and an irrigated site in the Philippines, farmer's normal cropping systems based on rice were compared with a range of experimental cropping systems including crops of maize, cowpeas and mungbeans and different rice cultivars. The contribution of plant parts to total biomass was measured for a range of different sequences of 2 or 3 crops.
