Ecological features of regeneration in subalpine Norway spruce forest in comparison with the montane forest zone

Ecological features of regeneration in subalpine Norway spruce forest in comparison with the montane forest zone

Schweizerische Zeitschrift fur Forstwesen 142(11): 879-904

On the basis of extensive published literature, a detailed tabular comparison is made of the ecological factors influencing seed production, germination, seedling establishment, growth and survival of natural regeneration of tree species in the montane zone and the subalpine spruce zone in Switzerland. The tables summarize information for three different sets of conditions (oceanic, intermediate, continental).
