Ecological notes on the barnacle-infesting Rhizocephala found at the Pacific coast of Japan

Ecological notes on the barnacle-infesting Rhizocephala found at the Pacific coast of Japan

Bulletin of the Biogeographical Society of Japan, 466: 69-76

The barnacle-infesting rhizocephalan Boschmaella japonica was discovered at Jogashima, Kanagawa Prefecture, near the type locality. The ratio of infestation among host barnacles, Chthamalus challengeri, was 3.5-11.9%, multiple infestation was 13.8-35.5% and the highest number was 6. The position of attachment was found to be the host body (30.1-42.6%) and host mantle (57.4-69.9%).
