Ecological studies in commercial orchards of Kazakhstan

Ecological studies in commercial orchards of Kazakhstan

Sadovodstvo i Vinogradarstvo ( 1): 10-12

Pollution studies during 1990-92 were carried out in 3 areas of the Alma-Ata region. The 0-60 cm soil layer was assessed for the contents of Cd, Pb, Hg, Zn, F, B, Cu and Mn. The data are tabulated. High levels of Pb (7.32-8.71 mg/kg soil) and F (5.2-6.6 mg/kg) were found in the foothill area. Also determined were the levels of heavy metals, nitrates, 90Sr and 137Cs in the locally grown apples.
