Ecological studies in some oak forests of western Garhwal Himalaya

Ecological studies in some oak forests of western Garhwal Himalaya

Recent Researches in Ecology, Environment and Pollution 6: 69-83

Phytosociological analyses and regeneration data are reported for 6 oak (Quercus) forest sites at Chowringhi, Uttarkashi district, Uttar Pradesh, 3 each on northern and southern slopes. All the forests were dominated by banj oak (Q. leucotrichophora). Upper, middle and lower northern slopes were composed of Q. floribunda/Q. leucotrichophora/Rhododendron arboreum, Q. leucotrichophora and Q. leucotrichophora/Lyonia ovalifolia types, respectively.
