In a survey of the aquatic and marshland flora of the Koch Bihar district during 1989-90, 70 plant species, including weedy species, belonging to 53 genera and 34 families were observed. The 5 dominant families, in descending order of the number of species in each, were as follows: Cyperaceae, Poaceae Polygonaceae, Araceae and Amaranthaceae.
