Ecological weed survey in Karnataka

Integrated weed management for sustainable agriculture Proceedings of an Indian Society of Weed Science International Symposium, Hisar, India, 18-20 November 1993 (Vol. I): 43-52

An ecological survey conducted during 2 seasons (kharif and rabi) in 6 regions of Karnataka state showed that variations in geographical situation, topography, soil types, alt. and climate mean that this state can be divided into the following 10 distinct agro-climatic zones: the central dry zone, the southern dry zone, the coastal zone, the hilly zone, the eastern dry zone, the southern transition zone, the N. eastern transition zone, the N. eastern dry zone, the northern dry zone and the northern transition zone. Weed species present in each zone are tabulated and their distribution in different habitats is noted.
