Ecology of aphids on sugarcane. IV. Species composition and seasonal abundance of root aphids

Field surveys were conducted on the species composition and seasonal abundance of root aphids on sugarcane in Amami Oshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, in 1989-90. Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominalis, Anoecia fulviabdominalis, Tetraneura (Tetraneurella) javensis and Geoica lucifuga were collected from sugarcane roots. The population densities of R. rufiabdominalis and A. fulviabdominalis were high from April to May, but they were not found in summer.
