An assessment is made of ecology, conservation and development issues in Bhutan, in the context of population, land use and frequency of natural hazards, based on a land use survey of the whole area of the Bhutan Himalaya, and field observations on development activities, land use and physical processes at 2 sites in Mongar and Tonga districts.
