Economic analysis of cropping behavior and sustainable land use

Research Bulletin of the Hokkaido Agricultural Experiment Station ( 158): 39-56

In a large scale upland farming area, in the eastern part of Hokkaido, Japan, recent worsening economic conditions have put pressure on producers to introduce root vegetables as new crops. Under these circumstances the establishment of new types of crops including vegetables emerge as a major theme in agricultural research.
