Economic analysis of smallholder cotton production in Kenya: a linear programming case study of Funyula Division, Busia District

This paper uses gross margin analysis and linear programming techniques to identify the main factors causing the declining output of cotton in Funyula Division of Busia District, Western Kenya. Both primary and secondary data were collected, the former through personal interviews with farmers comprising of a total sample of 60, selected at random, and the latter obtained from various reports published by the Ministry of Agriculture.
