Economic and horticultural analysis of apple orchard systems with Granny Smith

Economic and horticultural analysis of apple orchard systems with Granny Smith

Good Fruit Grower 43(16): 32-36

A trial to evaluate orchard systems in central Washington was established in 1985 with Granny Smith trained by the Dutch slender spindle and French vertical axis high density systems, compared with the freestanding central leader system (control). The site was gravelly, had been used to grow apples for 35 years and was not fumigated before replanting. Undertree impact sprinklers were used for irrigation.
