Economic and social impacts of retirees migrating to East Texas

Economic and social impacts of retirees migrating to East Texas

Departmental Information Report Texas Agricultural Experiment Station ( 93-2): ii + 41pp.

In the USA, East Texas is increasingly viewed as a desirable area for retirement location. In this study, conducted in 1992, three communities having a relatively large in-migration of retirees in recent years were selected for a study of: (1) the economic contribution of retirees to East Texas; (2) community factors affecting retirement location decisions; and (3) retirees' attitudes about their community of choice. Almost two-thirds of the retirees interviewed came from other areas of Texas.
