Economic aspects of feeding pigs on maize-cob silage in comparison with traditional feeding methods

Economic aspects of feeding pigs on maize-cob silage in comparison with traditional feeding methods

Zeszyty Naukowe Akademii Rolniczej w Szczecinie, Ekonomika ( 21): 123-128

During 1987 and 1988 a study was conducted of five farms, in the Rzeszow region of south-eastern Poland, growing at least 1 ha of maize and producing at least 10 finished pigs per cycle. Liveweight gain of pigs fed on maize-cob silage and traditional feeds, such as cereals and potatoes, was compared. Expenditure of time and energy on growing and harvesting maize and other feed crops was also studied.
