Economic aspects of growing oil flax from a farming point of view

Economic aspects of growing oil flax from a farming point of view

Shriftenreihe des Bundesministers fur Ernahrung Landwirtschaft und Forsten Reihe A, Angewandte Wissenschaft ( 412): 126-134

First results of a model study carried out on the Gifhorn branch of Lower Saxony Landvolk and the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) suggest that oil flax can compete with other arable crops, particularly wheat, under German conditions. Some 175 farmers took part in trials on 1020 ha in 1990 and 1991. Yields in 1991 ranged from less than 10 ton/ha to over 20 ton/ha with about 72% in the range 10-19.9 ton.
