The strategies used for lasting weed control in various crops in the Netherlands are analysed from a business standpoint. The savings on chemicals are generally greater than the outlay on new machines for mechanical weeding. The systems has had repercussions on the choice of crop varieties, fertilizers, and pest and disease control.
