Economic considerations in the production of bull calves for slaughter

Economic considerations in the production of bull calves for slaughter

Comunicado Tecnico Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Gado de Corte ( 47): 6pp.

The accumulated costs of producing a weaned bull calf in its different biological phases in Brazil was estimated. This includes costs of pasture and its infrastructure, administration and services, mineral supplementation, and interest on investments in animals. The results showed that the embryo already cost $16.70 in its first day of life in the uterus. This cost went up to $68.10 at birth and to $92.90 at weaning.
