Economic crisis & women in Nicaragua

Economic crisis & women in Nicaragua

Unequal burden: economic crises, persistent poverty, and women' s work: 239-258

During the 1980s, Central America saw the merging of a political/military crisis with an economic crisis. In the specific case of Nicaragua, the economic crisis must be examined within a context of revolutionary transformation aimed at meeting the strategic demands of the majority of the population. The chapter analyses the role women have played in the coping processes generated at the household level to confront the crisis. It is organized into four parts.
