Economic effects of increasing farm size following CAP reform: Arevalo-Madrigal

Economic effects of increasing farm size following CAP reform: Arevalo-Madrigal

Investigacion Agraria, Economia 8(3): 389-405

Taking a district of the Spanish province of Avila (within Castilla-Leon) as a case study, and looking exclusively at farms specializing in field crops (54% of total), this study considers the likely consequences of increasing farm size in the light of set-aside regulations. The structure of farming in the district is described: some wheat is grown on the dryland farms but barley and/or sunflower predominate everywhere.
