Economic evaluation of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) in association with potato (Solanum tuberosum) through border-ridge technique

In a field experiment on sandy loam during the winter seasons of 1988-90 at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, potatoes was intercropped with B. juncea Varuna, Rohini, Vardan, Vaibhav, Krishna, Kranti or Pusa Bold in place of the 4th potato ridge. Potatoes intercropped with Varuna produced the highest potato tuber and B. juncea seed yields of 19.41 and 1.96 t/ha, respectively, and the highest net returns, which were over 4 times greater than with pure potato stands.
