Economic factors affecting the choice of technologies for pest control: an example from Honduras

Economic factors affecting the choice of technologies for pest control: an example from Honduras

Manejo Integrado de Plagas ( 24-25): 58-62

Economic analysis is presented of the pest control technologies developed and promoted by the Crop Protection Department, El Zamorano, Honduras. An econometric model was developed on the basis of accounts by 14 farmers from 3 regions in Honduras of their annual cropping activities to describe capital:labour ratio and the choice of technologies. In more remote fields, farmers tended to substitute capital for labour in tillage and weed control.
